Fátima and Óbidos Tour
Visit to the Sanctuary of Fátima, the second largest Marian sanctuary, which due to its power and mystical atmosphere, attracts millions of pilgrims each year. The main square is twice the size of Saint Peter’s Square in the Vatican and can hold 300,000 people.
What To Expect
Departure from Lisbon Towards Fatima, one of the most emblematic Catholic shrines in the world. We will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary which was built to celebrate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the Three Little Shepherds. On the opposite side stands the newly built Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, the fourth largest Catholic temple in the world in capacity. Here you will have the option of attending daily Mass.
Then its time to visit the village and buy souvenirs, or walk the Via Sacra de Valinhos This sacred way has 14 stations in memory of the Passion of Jesus Christ and was built on the path that the three shepherds took to the place of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
Afterwards we will leave for Vila da Nazaré, with a mild climate and natural beauty, and the oldest traditions of Portugal linked to the ancient fishing arts. Also known to hold the record of the largest surfing wave in the world. You will enjoy the overwhelming open view over the Atlantic ocean and take amazing pictures for posterity, when we cross the road of the fishermen Towards Vila de São Martinho do Porto. A charming village located in a natural, beautiful and calm bay. The bay, shaped like a shell, is connected to the ocean by a narrow opening.
The last stop will be in the medieval village of Óbidos, in the top 10 of the most beautiful medieval towns in Europe, where you can enjoy a magnificent and romantic historical old-town center, surrounded by walls of classic battlements, composed of a labyrinth of cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. Not to be missed is the delicious cherry liqueur from Óbidos.
Then it’s back to Lisbon!
